For Lot Sixteen, Season of Giving is Personal

Lot Sixteen found a new way to give this year – gifting employees money to direct to their charity of choice and also matching the first $100 employees donate to that charity, increasing the total amount of money donated to important causes.

The idea was a big success. Team members could highlight causes and organizations near and dear to their heart and give their colleagues a peek into who they are as people, what they care about and what issues they’d like to see improve in our world today.

Here’s a Few Charities our Lot Sixteeners Donated To and Why

  • Street Health DC: “I chose Street Health DC because my partner, Tobie, founded the program in order to help provide accessible and compassionate medical care to improve the health and well-being of persons experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Street Health DC provides care in a respectful and non-judgmental manner, and works to advocate for policy and systemic changes that will improve access to healthcare and affordable housing in our community.” – Geof Koss, Vice President

  • DC Doors: “I chose DC Doors because I was able to see the important work they do for families in our community firsthand as a college student and volunteer. The DC Doors mission is ‘to move participants from homelessness to permanent, stable and affordable housing by providing transitional and permanent housing and comprehensive supportive services in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.’ Over the years, their work has only become more important, and I’m forever inspired by their dedication to improving lives and living conditions for everyone.” – McKinley Doty, Vice President

  • Casa Chirilagua: “I chose Casa Chirilagua because it serves Central American immigrant families in the Arlandria neighborhood of Alexandria, VA. They help plan and execute activities and celebrations for the community, and they primarily provide after-school help and activities to kids from first-12th grade. One of the awesome programs they have is the mentorship program, which I am a part of! They provide mentors to kids of all ages in order to provide homework/school help and encourage them to stay on the right path. I am a proud mentor to an 11 year old girl who loves math and Hello Kitty!” – Keylin Lopez, Associate

Other charities our team chose included CASA DC, UN Crisis Relief, World Central Kitchen, Middle East Children's Alliance, and more.

This year Lot Sixteen and its employees proudly contributed $8,875 to important causes across the globe. We’re grateful for this team and for sharing – and contributing to – causes that mean the most to them.

We are looking forward to the new year, and we wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.
